Who can
get a free library card?

Resident of Wells County - If you are a Wells County resident,
and do not live in the city limits of Markle, you qualify for a
Wells County Public Library card valid for three years.

Wells County
Property Owner - If you are a non-resident who
pays property and/or personal property tax in Wells County then you qualify
for a library card valid for one year.

Teachers -
Teachers in Wells County, resident or non-resident, may have a library card
for use during the school year.
How do I get a
library card?

Fill Out
Registration Card - Visit the Checkout desk at the library to fill out a
registration card.

Show Proof of
Address - You will need to show proof of address such as a drivers
license, check, lease or any piece of mail other than a personal letter.
If you are a property owner you will need to show tax receipts yearly.
How old do I
have to be to get a card?

Ages 4 through
11 - Ages 4 through 11 qualify for a Juvenile card. Juvenile cards
require a parent's signature and have limited borrowing privileges.

Ages 12 through
17 - Ages 12 through 17 qualify for a Young Adult card. Young
Adult cards require a parent's signature and have limited borrowing
privileges.

Ages 18 and up
- Ages 18 and up qualify for an Adult card with regular borrowing
privileges.
I'm not a Wells
County resident. Can I still get a card?
Yes, you can purchase a non-resident card or a PLAC
card.

Non-resident
Card - A non-resident card can be purchased by those who do not qualify
for a free library card. A full year of borrowing privileges is $65.
A half year can be purchased for $32.50. Fee returned if proof of Wells
County address is provided within 60 days of purchase. The cost of
this card is determined by a formula.

PLAC
Card - A Public Library
Access Card allows patrons to check out books from any
library in the state of Indiana. If you have a home library*
you are eligible to purchase a PLAC card which is $50 for one year.
Fee determined by the Indiana State Library.
* “Home library”
means the public library where an individual is a resident or real property
taxpayer in the taxing district of the library or library from which a
nonresident has purchased a card. |
