Six Mile Cemetery
Location: On State Road 116, 3 miles southeast of Bluffton in Harrison Township, Wells County, Indiana.
The original introduction
states The Six Mile Cemetery lies across the road from the Six Mile Church.
A part of the ground for the cemetery was donated by Adam Miller.
In 1837 prayer meetings were held in the homes of Squire Thomas Van Horn
and other settlers by the Reverend Hallet Barber. During these meetings the
first church of Wells County was organized on September 2, 1838, The church
building was constructed of logs and was located about one mile south of the
present church site. Data was compiled by Mrs. Fay Hauk, Miss Grace Smith and Miss
Frances Smith, members of the Wells County Historical Society.
M. Schlagenhauf walked this cemetery and searched the church records. She created a book titled Six Mile Cemetery Index (WC 929.5 SC). Her information was incorporated into this updated index.
