If you're one of the
few who haven't discovered this delightful 9 volume series, summer would be
a great time to do so. Meet Father Tim and all the interesting inhabitants
of Mitford as they grow through life together.

of Lost Things by John Connolly (Fic Con)
This is NOT
Connolly's usual fare; it's a fairy tale about 12-year-old David, an boy
having trouble adjusting to his new step-mother and step-brother. He enters
a magical kingdom for lost things in hope of finding his mother. Dark but
clever.
- Cape
Refuge by Terri Blackstock (C Blackstock)
This is a Christian
novel about the murders of a couple who run a halfway house in a small
community. It is not very realistic, but is suspenseful and absorbing, with
a number of sympathetic characters.
- Echo
Park by Michael Connelly (Fic Con)
This is an
exceptionally suspenseful Harry Bosch tale, involving his efforts to solve a
13 year old murder. A serial killer and political corruption are also thrown
into the mix.
- Killer
Insight by Victoria Laurie (Fic Lau)
Abby is going to die.
The how, when, why, where, and who will keep you guessing till the end.
However, even if you see the bright light, there may still be hope.
- Last
stand of the Tallgrass
Prairie by Aimee Larrabee (577.44 La)
Beautiful pictures of
how the prairie once looked. Some of the grasses and flowers could make
great additions to our gardens.
- Peter
Pan in Scarlet by Geraldine McCaughrean (Electronic audio)
Currently this book
is only available in Electronic audio. It is the sequel to Peter Pan.
Something is amiss in Neverland. So Peter Pan's old friends (now all
grownup) travel back to save him (in their children's clothes).
- Plain
Truth by Jodi Picoult (Fic Pic)
A lawyer leaves the
big city to get away from her hectic life and ends up defending her Amish
cousin on a murder charge for allegedly killing her newborn infant.
- Survival
of the Sickest by Dr. Sharon Moalem (616.042 Mo)
A fascinating account
of why deadly diseases are bred into our genetic code and why that might
sometimes that isn't all that bad.
- Tumbling
Blocks by Earlene Fowler (Fic Fow)
Benni is asked to
investigate a suicide, which a friend believes is murder. Gabe says it is a
suicide and and there is no harm in her asking questions. That is how all
the good mysteries start.
- Why
I Let My Hair Grow Out by Maryrose Wood (YA Fic Woo)
Morgan is 16, just
dumped by her boyfriend, and sent on a bike tour of Ireland by her parents.
Is it any wonder she shaves her head? It's not long until she finds an
